Summer Falls Mini Round – Final boss battle scene

The final boss battle is here!!

The long overdue “Summer Falls” round finally comes to an end, as winter soon would pass, spring would arrive, and the ending of Somerset is upon us.

Somerset is no longer just a mini round, because even though the formula of the gameplay is that of a mini round, the story and the scale of battle rivaled a real EBG round. So that’s why I thought that it would be worth it to spend effort into Somerset even if it’s just a mini round. Which is why I took my time writing this, even though it meant to be done long ago.

Anyway, here’s the character form of the boss for anyone who need it. For those who struggled on imagining the boss, just use this picture as reference since it’s close enough.

Oh also, I might exaggerate the size of the largest Zaratan in the world when I was talking about it few days ago. In truth, they’re more like in size of Borneo than Greenland. Which mean they’re still huge and can have multiple mountains, since they can host many big nations, but they’re definitely not in the size of a continent. (Here’s the size comparison pic)

So yeah, we’re definitely NOT fighting in small islands. That place is huge. Even if there’s storm of even rain of fire, it’s not like the island would collapse. The battle itself took place in multiple parts of the island, since there’s so many different valleys and hills here and there.

Though there’s a lot of battle, I need to apologize for those who didn’t get enough scenes. This is because there’s so much characters in the game, so not everyone can be the spotlight. And because of this, I’m sorry if I forgot to use some abilities of our some of the characters.

With that in mind, I hope that everyone would enjoy the reading.  It’s only about 35 pages, which what I consider an ideal length of a boss battle scene.

A little warning… Readers of Crossing Illusion would be screaming internally. You’ll see what I’m talking about when Meyer do something that would remind you with certain someone…

Anyway, here we go!

Summer Falls Mini Round – Final Boss Battle

REMINDER: Every EBG battle scenes are specifically optimized for website view on desktop and not for mobile. For best of experience, I strongly recommended to read the battle scenes on a computer than on phone. There’s no guarantee that the display/visual on phone match the intended result, which might include error such as missing font or bad coding.

Additional Note: Don’t forget to close the document outline on the left screen.

MUSIC RECOMMENDATION!

Protip: Right click on the video and choose “Loop” to keep the song playing, so you don’t need to press replay. This way, even if the video is short, you can keep reading because the song will automatically replay once it ends, until you stop it manually and switch to another song.

Important: When playing a track on Soundcloud, always press the loop button on your player, because Soundcloud’s autoplay will very likely leads you to another track without warning, so you might ended up listening to the wrong music for the battle.

Update: Adding for what I consider the best tracks for the current battle scene. I decide to add them in case you struggled to choose the right music from the list.

【Epic Battle】Incendiary | by Sean Brattan (One of the best music for this particular boss battle, that can be played for ALMOST the entire writing. Best used for portraying doom and dread, the hopelessness, the burning flames of war, and destruction that ravages the world. Please switch to another music for the heroic scenes, such as World on Fire)

【Epic】 World on Fire | by Evan Call (Despite the ominous title, this song actually sounds really heroic. It’s like the kind of time when the heroes rushed to battle, or when they rise up from the ashes, stand side by side, and fighting till the end. Best to be used on specific scene that emphasis on the players rather than the boss. One of the best time to use this music is at the end of page 27 and until the battle end at page 31, then switch back to Incendiary immediately. Though you can play the music again from page 33 and onward)

Two Steps From Hell – Atlantis (Another great music to start the game, though not the best choice for the current boss battle. It’s still a good music for every scenes in general. Which is why you use this for all the battles, unless, when the awesome scene demands better music. Anyway, that link is for the original. Extended version of the music below)

Thomas Bergersen – Ocean Princess (An even better music than the previous option! This one should be kept later when the epic, awesome scene happens. Great for many scenes of the game, but mostly for the dramatic return of the heroes. Some of the best moment to play this including; page 27 to 31, then you can replay it at the bottom of page 32 and onward until the end of the battle. This link is for the original video. Extended version of the music below)

Jessie Yun – Legend of the Seas (A choice for more action-packed music than Atlantis or the Ocean Princess, befitting of a battlefield in the middle of a war. The music has an oriental, authentic taste that’s only fitting for the combat based battles with a mix of epic heroic feel! Since it’s heroic, it can be used interchangeably with Atlantis and World on Fire)

Pirates of the Caribbean – He’s a Pirate (Another great music for the heroes! It’s an epic music that’s intense and fast-paced, yet beautiful, melodic, pumping up the adrenaline and fighting spirit! This music be can be played for every battle scene that are more lighthearted, that focused more on the heroes rather than the boss or anything else)

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance OST – Rules of Nature (For those who enjoyed heavy metal music sung in English lyric. Though it started dreadful, the chorus is filled with determination, such as when the heroes strike back against the villain!)

Castlevania Condemned Tower Cover by Yuta Romeo (My favorite remix from one of the best Castlevania music, that might be a great choice for the battle aside from any previous choices of the round. This music is less intense or epic, but melancholic, like a fight in a serene forest near the lake, under the moonlight of midnight. The only weakness is that there’s 3 seconds delay on the video before the music started, and that there’s a funny sound effect on the ending)

[ Generic EBG battle music below ]

NemesisTheory – Rose At Twilight (One of the best song for this battle scene. The song is filled with “boss battle” vibe all over it, as if we’re fighting against some apocalyptic being for the sake of the world. It’s a good choice for most of the battles in general)

Most Wondrous Battle Music: “Destruction” by Keiichi Okabe & Monaca™ (As the name assume, this music speaks about destruction, an impending doom upon the world. Specifically good for an apocalyptic battle, such as against the ProphetessWhisperer, and Sovereign)

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix -Lord Of The Castle (An awesome boss battle music with melody that is both classy and dramatic, grim and gothic, yet epic and heroic. Great for any dramatic scene in general, especially for a battle against something powerful and fearsome)

Epic Battle Fantasy – Those Of Us Who Fight (A melodic boss battle theme from a game that accidentally got similar name to EBG. This music is good in general for any battle, especially those with determination, as you strive through and keep fighting on)

Mana Khemia – Nefertiti (A really epic and intense battle music! Perfect for the payback time when the heroes strike back and kick out really hard!)

Bravely Default – That Person’s Name Is (Another video game battle theme but more of an orchestra than metal or rock. An excellent piece of soundtrack for any of the fight)

Monster Girl Quest – Ilias Final Form (A pretty nice boss battle music, as if you’re fighting together against a powerful creature. It’s not intense nor dark enough to be considered as my favorite, but it’s still a solid track that’s good for many kind of boss battle)

[ Music for the final scenes ]

Wodkah – The Last Butterfly (What I considered to be the character theme of Meyer. This is a slow and soft, emotional and beautiful piece of instrumental music. Can be played from page 26 to 27, also page 34 to 35. This music can also be used for the final attack from the bottom of page 32 until the end of the battle, though I prefer using the music below instead)

Wada Kouji – Butter-Fly (Final Version) (What I can consider the theme of Lyn, but also fitting with many more characters here. This is my best recommendation for those who enjoys listening to anime music while reading the story. This can be played from page 27 and onward, but I would recommend using the remix version on the link below instead of this one)

Butter-Fly (Digimon OP) Female Cover 2015 (For those who love anime music, this is one of my best recommendation for the best scenes of the game. You can either play this from page 27 and onward. Though if you wanna play this for the climax of the game, that begin at the bottom of page 32, then use the link below to jump into the final chorus of the music)

Nights Amore and Arn Andersson: Farewell Life (Optional music that should be could exactly after the “defeat” of the boss, and this could be played for her final moment in page 33, until she finally sunk down. The problem is that the transition is so sudden, at everything was so epic at page 33 and then suddenly when the final attack delivered, it changes to sad music. You can instead keep playing Butter-Fly or The Last Butterfly until the end)

Basically, what could be used for the final moment depend on your preferences. Every one of them below can be played from page 32 until the end of the battle.

  • The Last Butterfly (Sad, emotional pieces that’s perfect for a touching scene)
  • Ocean Princess (Emotional but epic choir, magical and filled with determination)
  • World on Fire (The most epic and intense but also emotional and heroic)
  • Butter-Fly (BEST music for anime lover during the climax of the battle!)
  • Farewell Life (Really sad slow music, can be played on page 33 to 35)

[ Ending music ]

Most Emotional Music Ever: “Waves” by Mattia Cupelli (A beautiful peaceful music that sounds perfect for the ending, that should be played right after the battle ended, until the end of the reading. You can optionally play Veniccio Coast instead if you want a happier music)

Dark Chronicle OST – Veniccio Coast (One of the best music for the entire round, but not for the battles, and only for the lighthearted scenes. Can be used for the ending after the battle finished, since it’s befitting of a happy sunny day at the beach. However I would recommend listening to Waves instead to get the best of emotional feeling of the ending)

Drifting Souls (Vocal Version) – Xenoblade Chronicle 2 (An alternative ending music, which is so emotional that it’s both happy yet sad at the same time. Can be used for those who’s okay on music with vocal, and best used for those who imagined the ending of the round as if you’re watching an ending of a movie or you just finished playing a video game)

Reminder: All the song above are only recommendation! Feel free to use your own music if you found better song that could fit with the battles!
